Activity Dates: September-June, 2011

Activity Overview: information and non formal education activities addressed to young people between 15 and 30 years old and support and cultural promotion activities addressed to immigrants and refugees living in the city of Catania.

Volunteer Tasks:
-Information/ non formal education activities addressed to young people – Intercultural theatre workshop
- Legality and active citizenship workshops
- Training events for youth workers and youth leaders
- Italian language workshops and basic informatics workshops – legal support and discrimination monitoring activities
- Social and work placement guidance and information
- Arabic language workshops for children with an immigrant background, cinema workshops and all the other cultural activities realised in cooperation with all the immigrants who benefits of Arci Catania activities.

Volunteer Profile: ready to be challenged from an environment of volunteers and activists who strongly believe in the values such antiracism, intercultural dialogue and active participation. Previous experience in NGOs field is preferred.

ROJECT 1

Project Venue: Długołęka, Poland
Project Dates: June 2011 – June 2012
Volunteer Tasks:

1. To get to know different art techniques (art classes) and get to know methods of working with children and youth.
2. To prepare a short guide for foreigners about Długołęka; to collect the information about local culture, history and people who lived in Długołęka and write some articles about it.
3. To get to know life of local community of a small village and learn local, Polish traditions, which are much more popular in the commune like Długołęka than in big agglomerations.
4. To help to organize concerts, exhibitions, picnics, contests and many other events. You will be also involved in preparation of various workshops (art, photography, dance, chess).
5. Volunteers will have also many opportunities to promote their country and culture during different events (cultural, sport, social).

Project 2

Project Venue: Żmigród, Poland
Project Dates: June 2011 – June 2012
Project Environment: House of Self-Support for Adults
Volunteer Tasks:

1. Basic help in educating wards how to take care of themselves and helping them in everyday care including teaching them how to prepare food, how to dress up, how to behave, how to choose the right bus on the way home.
2. Document the life of the House, which is: to make a movie about regular work of the House, about the events, in which wards take part taking photos, running the chronicle and so on.
3. Basic work connected with keeping the House tidy, like cleaning according to the schedule with the other workers.
4. During the project the volunteer will have the opportunity to develop new sport and artistic skills (used for therapy) as well as share with the one he/she already knows.

Youth on the Net

Seminar on Internet Security

The event should allow the sharing of tools and good practices in the youth sector.
Resources and transnational cooperation should be made available by bringing together service providers and representatives of national awareness centers with youthworkers and IT reponsibles from youth structures.

COSTS

Hosting costs are taken into charge by Luxembourg’s NA. Travel costs are in principle covered by the respective sending National Agencies, according to their rules. In principle, participants are asked a participation fee of 75 Euro (in order to lighten the procedure, it is asked that the sending NAs deduct this amount from the reimbursement of the travel fees)

ICELAND- ATOQ Advanced Training On Quality for youth exchanges

2011-03-08 to 2011-03-13 in Iceland

ATOQ is a training course to increase quality within youth exchanges. An international group of youth workers will look back to past experience(s), focus on quality aspects and improve management competences in order to raise quality in future exchanges

Board, lodging and programma will be provided and paid for by the Icelandic and British National Agency. The sending NA’s will have to cover the travelcosts of their participants. Please check with your National Agency whether they intend to send participants to the ATOQ. Some National Agencies will ask for participation fees.

BELGIUM – Competences for ALL!

Volunteering (EVS) in Moscow – Sep 2011

Volunteering in Moscow since Sep 2011. Costs (travel costs, accommodation, living costs, monthly allowance) are covered!

Young motivated people (18 – 30 y.o.) are invited for the volunteering (EVS) in Moscow since Sep 2011!
The duration of the volunteering – 6-12 months.
Volunteers will spend their time in Moscow hosted by the organization The Institute of Humanitarian Development.

Tasks of a volunteer:
Teaching his/her mother tongue to Russian students (in case of fluency in any other language teaching of the other language is also possible)
Establishing and development contacts between the hosting organization and the cultural center and Embassy of the country of a volunteer
Designing and implementation activities for the promotion of the culture of volunteer’s country among Russian youth (festivals, evenings of traditional food, national music etc.)
Presentation of the Project at universities in Moscow
Conducting trainings on intercultural learning
Support of the international development of hosting organization
External communications with foreign partners of the hosting organization

The following costs are covered:
Travel costs
Visa costs
Local Transport
Administrative support
Accommodation in Moscow
Monthly allowance

The volunteers will be provided:
Russian language course
Excursions
Personal mentors
Friendly international team including employees of the hosting organization and other volunteers
Opportunity to participate at international projects of the hosting organization taking part in Russia and outside of Russia as well
Facilities to design and implement personal project

Candidates must be legal residents of EU country.
